Floyd Vader

Floyd Vader

With a sound firmly rooted in the Afro-Latin diaspora, Floyd Vader’s style is a blend of soulful, deep, and melodic influences, which draw heavily from his upbringing in a family rich with musicians and dancers. His deep connection to rhythm, enhanced by a proficiency in percussion and other instruments, forms the backbone of his signature sound, which he showcases fluently in both his DJ sets and original productions. A passion for dance also plays a crucial role in his approach to music. Raised with influences from West African dance traditions (Mali, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal) and immersed in the cultures of Hip-Hop/B-boying and Capoeira, he brings a dynamic cultural awareness to his performances.

As a producer, Floyd brings authenticity and musicality to everything he touches. With a slew of productions so far released on labels such as Catch the Ghost, Ocha Records, Yoruba Records, Merecumbe Recordings, Bayacou Records and of course Lost in the Rhythm, his tracks reflect a deep appreciation for soulful grooves and Afro-Latin rhythms, while his own imprint, Deep Like is a testament to his ongoing commitment to curate a wider catalogue that continues to connect deeply with his listeners.

As a DJ, he’s graced the decks at some of the most iconic venues and parties across the U.S., including Soul In The Horn (NYC), Nowadays (NYC), Jupiter Disco (NYC), Movement Festival (Detroit), Charivari Festival (Detroit), and Eighteenth St. Lounge (D.C.). Known for his ability to seamlessly blend music that moves both the feet and the spirit, Floyd’s sound is infectious, a quality that has led him to perform alongside house music legends like Mike Dunn, Osunlade, Karizma, Kai Alce, DJ Kemit, and Frankie Feliciano, among others.
